Instructor – Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice, University of South Carolina
Position:
Full‑time, professional‑track Instructor, beginning August 16, 2026. Initial appointment may be for one or three years; renewal may be granted subject to performance, departmental needs and funding. Salary range is competitive and commensurate with experience.
Teaching load: 8 courses for the academic year (four each major semester). Some distance delivery may occur; instructor must be available for on‑campus courses in Columbia.
Responsibilities- Teach undergraduate courses, including introductory and upper‑division offerings.
- Advise undergraduate students and direct undergraduate research as needed.
- Provide service to the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of developments in the field.
Education and Experience
- Hold a master’s, JD, or Ph.D. degree and have completed at least 18 graduate credit hours in criminology, criminal justice, or a closely related field.
- Be capable of teaching introductory and upper‑division undergraduate courses.
- Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and fostering student learning.
- Eligible for promotion to higher non‑tenure‑track ranks.
- Commitment to excellence in teaching and fostering student learning, with experience as a professional in the field.
- A cover letter describing research and teaching interests.
- A curriculum vitae.
