The Molinaroli College of Engineering and Computing (MCEC) at the University of South Carolina (USC) in Columbia seeks qualified applicants for multiple tenured and tenure‑track faculty positions (Open Rank) to support its new Industrial Engineering (IE) program. The roles will have a tenure home in the Mechanical Engineering department. Successful candidates will be expected to develop internationally recognized, externally funded research programs in cutting‑edge areas of industrial and manufacturing engineering, including robotics, additive manufacturing, digital manufacturing, systems engineering, and operations research.
Candidates will also teach and develop Industrial Engineering curriculum at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Teach and develop Industrial Engineering courses, including lectures, laboratories, and design courses for undergraduate and graduate students.
- Develop and sustain an independent, nationally recognized research program.
- Collaborate within multi‑disciplinary teams of faculty and researchers across colleges and institutions.
- Engage in professional activities, including service, conferences, and editorial work.
- Applicants for the Assistant Professor rank must possess a Ph.D. in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering or a closely related field by the start date of employment, a demonstrated record of research accomplishments, and an outstanding capacity for teaching.
- Applicants for the Associate or Full Professor rank must also have years of relevant academic experience, a strong record of teaching excellence, research, and service including competitive funding and interdisciplinary collaborations.
