Overview
Under general supervision of the Vice President for Academics, Student Affairs and Research, the Associate Vice President (AVP) for Student Affairs provides system-level leadership for student services across the SC Technical College System. The AVP for Student Affairs plays a critical role in advancing student success, access, and persistence by overseeing student services policy, coordinating statewide initiatives, managing complex student grievances and issues, and engaging a broad network of internal and external stakeholders.
This position serves as a key liaison between the System Office, the technical colleges, and state and federal partners, ensuring that student affairs practices are responsive, compliant, and aligned with the System’s mission, vision, and strategic priorities. The AVP for Student Affairs will serve as Title IX Coordinator; supervise staff responsible for implementation of policies, procedures, and development of reports related to student services activities;
and serve in assigned areas as student services liaison with Chief Student Services Officers, peer groups and other committees for projects and matters relating to student services, student issues, and staff development.
A bachelor's degree and relevant program management experience. Extensive knowledge of historic and current theory and practice of student services administration in postsecondary environments with special knowledge of application at the community/technical college level. Considerable experience managing a variety of student services functions. Ability to research and analyze federal laws and regulations and interpret for application at the local and state level.
Ability to analyze college operations and present recommendations for change. Ability to perform audit functions and manage audit processes. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Terminal degree in higher education or a related field.
