REPORTS TO: Building Administrator and assigned Teacher(s)

GENERAL

SUMMARY:

Under direct supervision, provides general teaching assistance to students with special needs. Supports instructional delivery of small group lessons, takes classroom notes, assists students to and from class settings, redirects students, implements behavior management plans, monitors students at all times, and maintains confidentiality.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provides classroom teaching assistance such as reinforcing skills, monitoring classroom behavior, administering tests to students with identified special needs, implementing Individual Education Plans.
• Assists students with academic instruction and classroom activities.
• Prepares and disseminates materials for students’ use during classroom activities.
• Sets up classroom for special activities as assigned, including preparation of materials.
• Adjusts special equipment for student use as needed.
• Accompanies class on field trips as required.
• Ensures the safety of the students in the classroom.
• Performs other related duties as required.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Conducts duties in an office/school/work environment with no significant exposure to environmental conditions. Physical demands are restricted to office work requiring lifting/moving items up to 25 pounds. Job requires operation of standard office equipment.
