Adjunct Welding Professor

The Adjunct Welding Professor maintains a high level of excellence in teaching by communicating and interacting effectively with students enrolled in courses within the program area. The role includes preparing materials needed for course instruction and testing, keeping student records, adhering to course schedules, and using learning management systems to communicate with students, faculty, and staff. The professor participates in the collection of student learning outcomes, assists the Welding Technology program coordinator with timely notification of any shortfall in supplies or equipment needed for lab instruction, conducts lectures, discussions, and other teaching activities, relates instruction and material to course objectives, and provides students with course syllabi.

The professor correlates grade assignments with skill and course competency, submits grades, reports, and records in a timely manner, and remains current in the field. The faculty member must have a broad knowledge of the welding industry with specific knowledge in the area(s) of teaching welding and welding techniques.

The faculty member needs to have a minimum of an Associate’s degree in Welding Technology or a related field and three to five years direct practical experience working independently in the following areas of Welding Technology: GMAW, GTAW, FCAW, SMAW welding, welding stainless steel, welding aluminum, welding fabrication.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in Welding Technology or a related field and a minimum of 3 years of related construction experience.
  • AWS D1.1 Welding Certifications, AWS Certified Welding Inspectors License, and 3–5 years of teaching related experience.

Compensation: Adjunct faculty are compensated in accordance with Midlands Technical College’s established pay schedule. The standard adjunct pay rate is $65 per contact hour. Final compensation may vary depending on academic credentials and total course credit hours. Any variation is determined upon hire and outlined in the faculty employment agreement.

Location: This position is located on the Midlands Technical College Airport Campus.
