FT Weekend (3 Day Work Week) Job Opportunity:
Youth Mentor

If so, Whetstone Academy wants you! Whetstone Academy is a dynamic and supportive learning environment dedicated to fostering the behavioral, academic, social, and emotional growth of our students.
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Youth Mentor to join our team and provide guidance, support, and encouragement to our students.
Pay scale: $15.50 - $21.50 Schedule: Friday
- Sunday 8 am to 9:30 pm
About the Role:
As a Youth Mentor at Whetstone Academy, you will play a vital role in empowering our students to reach their full potential. You will build meaningful relationships, provide individualized support, and serve as a positive role model. Your responsibilities will include:
- Mentorship & Guidance:
- Providing one-on-one and group mentoring to students. Offering academic support, study skills assistance, and time management strategies. Guiding students in developing social skills, emotional intelligence, and conflict resolution abilities.
Helping students set and achieve personal goals.
- Relationship Building:
- Establishing strong, trusting relationships with students. Creating a safe and supportive environment for students to share their challenges and successes. Acting as a positive role model and advocate for students.
- Program Support:
- Assisting in the planning and implementation of enrichment activities. Monitoring student progress and providing regular feedback to school staff. Documenting student interactions and progress in accordance with academy guidelines.
Attending staff meetings and training sessions.
- A genuine passion for working with young people and a commitment to their success. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and active listening skills. Ability to build rapport and establish trust with students from diverse backgrounds. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Experience working with youth in a mentoring, teaching, or counseling capacity preferred.
A background check will be required. A bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related field is a plus.
