Assistant Dean for Admissions

Job Summary: With direction from the Dean, the Assistant Dean for Admissions serves as the strategic leader responsible for shaping, implementing, and advancing the law school’s admissions vision and goals. The assistant dean oversees recruitment, admissions operations, enrollment strategy, scholarship awards, and applicant management to attract and enroll a highly qualified and mission-aligned class. The successful assistant dean must be able to build strong relationships with top feeder schools and have knowledge of legal education trends, experience with financial aid and scholarship awards, and sensitivity to demographic and market conditions affecting law school applicants.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Eight years of law school admissions experience preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Legal Education Landscape: High level of familiarity with the environment of legal education, the legal profession, and the academic programs and curriculum of the School of Law.
Enrollment Management: Knowledge of holistic admissions review, application evaluation processes, yield management and enrollment forecasting, scholarship strategies, pipeline development, familiarity with metrics affecting law school competitiveness.
Analytical and Technical
Skills:
Experience and knowledge of CRM platforms (such as Slate), application processing software (LSAC Unite), reporting tools and dashboards, and familiarity with predictive modeling for yield forecasting and financial aid decisions.
Communications and Relationship Building: Strong interpersonal and customer‑service skills and ability to work well with various constituencies, including faculty, staff, alumni, students, applicants, and other groups. Persuasive writing and messaging, excellent presentation and public‑speaking skills.
Leadership and Management: Ability to lead the admissions team. Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism, energy, and commitment. Ability to manage multiple tasks in an organized, strategic, and detail‑oriented way while remaining personable, supportive, enthusiastic, and committed to delivering the highest quality of service. Possesses sound judgement, high discretion and confidentiality, and adaptability under pressure. Ability to think strategically, solve problems and take initiative.
