Job Responsibilities
Midlands Technical College is a public, two‑year college serving Richland, Lexington, and Fairfield counties in South Carolina. We offer associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates and focus on innovative learning environments and student success.
- Engage and support dually enrolled students in the College Skills course, helping them navigate the college environment and develop durable skills.
- Use the well‑developed curriculum while collaborating with the College Skills Coordinator and Dual Enrollment staff.
- Participate in paid online training covering the MTC Learning Management System (D2L Brightspace), effective instruction practices, data collection for student learning outcomes, and 21st‑century accessibility.
This position is located on various campuses in the Dual Enrollment department.
Minimum and Additional RequirementsInstructors teaching COL 105 Dual Enrollment must meet at least one of the following criteria:
- Hold a bachelor’s degree or higher in one or more of the disciplinary areas and/or associated careers that will be open for student exploration in the COL 105 DE course.
- Hold an associate’s degree and demonstrate competencies in one or more of those disciplinary areas and/or associated careers for the COL 105 DE course.
- Hold a bachelor’s degree or higher in counseling, which could include career counseling and advising.
Disciplinary areas and/or associated careers open for students to explore in the COL 105 DE course include: MTC Schools of Business, Education and Public Service, STEM, Advanced Manufacturing and Skilled Trades, English and Humanities, Social and Behavioral Sciences, and Health Care.
Preferred QualificationsMaster’s degree in a relevant disciplinary or student success area.
Prior Teaching Experience- Serving as instructor‑of‑record for a high school or college‑level course.
- Teaching or leading workshops for students.
- Small‑group facilitation, including work with supplemental instruction.
- Prior experience with Learning Management Systems.
- Prior experience with online instruction.
