Position Summary
The Cline School of Music at North Greenville University is seeking a dynamic Adjunct Faculty member in Voice. Primary responsibility will be teaching private contemporary voice lessons to undergraduate students.
North Greenville University is a teaching university of the South Carolina Baptist Convention and maintains a tobacco and alcohol‑free campus. Responsibilities- Teach private contemporary voice lessons to undergraduate students including electives, minors, music industry, and worship students.
- Teach Class Voice and support the overall voice department.
- Prepare for courses, organize and become familiar with student material.
- Prepare lesson plans and course material as required.
- Effectively organize and present subject matter to students.
- Objectively assess students for academic performance.
- Maintain security of assessment tools and confidential documentation.
- Use Canvas learning management system.
- Maintain student records, grades, and attendance accurately.
- Meet all university deadlines for syllabi and grade submission.
- Hearing: hear well enough to teach vocal lessons.
- Dexterity: ability to accompany students preferred.
- Mobility: teach classes, move between departments, attend meetings across campus.
- Talking: teaching classes and private lessons.
- Cognitive/Emotional: ability to critically think and concentrate.
This part‑time position reports first to the Director of Vocal Studies and then to the Associate Dean of the School.
Work ScheduleUniversity working hours are M-F 8:00–5:00; adjunct schedules may extend beyond those hours based on mutually determined teaching assignments.
Qualifications- Master’s degree required in vocal music or a related field.
- Preference for applicants holding a terminal degree.
- Tenor or Baritone voice type preferred.
- Successful record of private studio teaching required; college‑level teaching experience preferred.
- Training and expertise in Estill Voice Training (EVT), Somatic Voicework (the LoVetri Method), or Contemporary Commercial Music strongly preferred; if lacking, candidate will be asked to acquire these skills.
- Evidence of scholarly potential.
- Excellent musicianship, including fluent keyboard skills to support voice instruction.
