Job Responsibilities
Serves as an Instructor for the College, including duties of teaching, developing materials, advising students, and providing assistance to administration through committees and other activities. This is an in-person position located at the Cheraw Campus. Please include transcripts and certifications with your application. Job Functions of the English Instructor:
- Teaching Performance - the ability to present course materials through appropriate instructional strategies to facilitate the learning process.
- Instructional Development - the development, revision, and maintenance of courses and curriculum through course objectives, outlines, and appropriate instructional methods.
- Instructional Management - the effective use of required office hours, exhibition of effective classroom management and control, and timely and accurately submitted reports.
- Student Advisement - the participation of the faculty member, when applicable, in assisting students in personal and professional development.
- College/Community Service - the participation in college activities and the promotion of the college through service.
- Professional Development - the participation of the faculty member in activities designed to develop professional skills so as to maintain and improve proficiency in his/her present position.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:
Master's Degree with 18 credit hours in the subject area (English). NETC Preferred Requirements:
Previous teaching experience at community/technical college, high schools, industries, and/or prisons. Experience using a variety of teaching modalities (face-to-face, broadcast, and online). Must have a valid driver's license.
Teaching ability is a must, with concern for student success and willingness to advise students on a regular basis. Supervision of employees in the Instructional area is general, allowing a large degree of freedom and discretion (based on guideline of academic freedom). Employees have access to supervisor, with regular meetings for communication purposes.
Additional CommentsThe teaching environment includes classroom and lab, requiring local travel to business/industry and community campuses and some short term travel may be required for professional meetings. Professional Development may require some overnight stays. Teaching locations include partner High Schools, State, Federal and Juvenile Correction facilities, community campuses, and industry partners.
