JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE:Special Education Teacher

GENERAL
SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Building Principal and Director of Special Services, the Certified Special Education Teacher develops and provides specialized instruction to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities; evaluates and assesses students’ progress against instructional objectives; follows state mandated due process procedures and functions as IEP Manager to assigned students.
Reports to: Building Principal
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIESAs a Special Education Teacher, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with disabilities by:
- Designing and implementing individualized instruction based on students' IEPs.
- Assessing student progress and adjusting instruction as needed.
- Using a variety of teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs.
- Developing annual Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and working closely with parents and support staff.
- Coordinating and delivering special education services to help students achieve their goals.
- Collaborating with general education teachers, specialists, and support staff to foster an inclusive learning environment.
- Maintaining compliance with federal, state, and district policies.
- Performing other related duties as required.
Education and Experience
- SC Certification as Generic Special Education (02), Multicategorical (21) or LD (2G)
- Office environment with limited exposure to environmental conditions. Physical demands are restricted to general office activities requiring movement/lifting items weighing up to twenty-five pounds. Routine local or regional travel required; occasional overnight travel required. Requires ability to work under a degree of stress related to duties that require considerable attention and meeting deadlines. Duties of the job require frequent use of a computer monitor and related equipment.
