Special Education Teacher (therapeutic residential facility)

Reports To: Principal

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or above. Must be certified or eligible for South Carolina teacher’s certificate.

Responsibilities:

• Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at times designated.
• Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students and state standards in the subject area.
• Establish clear objectives for all classroom activities and communicate these objectives to students.
• Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the physical limitations of the location and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
• Utilize effective classroom management strategies to create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and developmentally appropriate for students.
• Strive to implement the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals through instruction and action.
• Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
• Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Terms: 190 days.

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.

Position Type: Full‑time

Salary: $50,500 to $80,500 per year
