The Department of Theatre at Coastal Carolina University, accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theatre ( NAST ), invites applications for part-time employment in the Theatre Department as a Teaching associate of dance. This position has a potential start date of August 16th, 2026, or January 4th, 2027. The department offers a B.F.A degree in Theatre Arts (audition/interview only) with concentrations in Acting, Musical Theatre, Physical Theatre, and Design and Production, a B.A. degree in Theatre, and Minors in Dance and Theatre.
The program seeks highly qualified individuals who will support the continued advancement of the program and especially the growing Dance Minor.
This highly collaborative department maintains an ambitious production season, in addition to new works and staged readings to connect students with working professionals. Department faculty maintain professional careers in their respective disciplines. Senior B.F.A. performance students participate in a New York Showcase for industry professionals, senior B.F.A. design/production showcase their portfolios at national conferences, and students in our department can study abroad in collaboration with our conservatory partner, Theatre Academy London.
The Department of Theatre seeks applications for a pool of qualified adjunct faculty to teach undergraduate dance courses on a semester-by-semester basis, contingent upon departmental needs. Successful candidates may be assigned one or more courses in areas including, but not limited to, ballet, modern, jazz, tap, contemporary, musical theatre dance, choreography, movement, dance appreciation, dance history, and other specialized areas consistent with the candidate’s training and professional experience.
Coastal Carolina University is a public comprehensive liberal arts institution located in Conway, South Carolina, just nine miles from the Atlantic coastal resort city of Myrtle Beach. The University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award the baccalaureate and master’s degrees of national and/or regional significance in the arts and sciences, business, humanities, education, and health and human services, a specialist degree in instructional technology, and PhD degrees in marine science: coastal and marine systems science and education sciences.
To be qualified for this position, applicants must have completed at least 18 graduate credit hours in Dance or a closely related discipline. Possessing a master’s degree, MFA, or other appropriate graduate degree in Dance, Choreography, Performance, or a related field is preferred. Preference also will be given to candidates with successful college-level teaching experience and/or substantial professional experience in dance performance, choreography, movement direction, or dance education.
