Position Description

Advertised Job Summary | Under general supervision, the Scholar Programs Coordinator serves as the primary contact and program advisor for all Carolina and 1801 Scholars in National Fellowships and Scholar Programs, a unit within the nation’s top ranked South Carolina Honors College (SCHC). The coordinator also performs a variety of duties to help provide support to approximately 200 high-achieving scholars who have received the university’s five top merit-based scholarships.

The coordinator plans all first-year scholar events in collaboration with student leadership, manages the development and implementation of various other student activities and programs throughout the year, provides holistic advising to scholars in partnership with other team members, advises student organizations as assigned, and collaborates with the Director of Scholar Programs to create an annual communication and assessment plan. Staff members should possess a wide range of intellectual curiosity and a commitment to working with high-achieving students.

This position may include additional responsibilities to meet the needs of USC’s most talented students and to support the mission of the overall university.
