General requirementsTo qualify for the J-1 Visa Intern or Trainee program, participants must meet one of the following criteria:
Be currently enrolled in a Hospitality or Culinary post-secondary academic institution.
Be a recent graduate of a Hospitality or Culinary post-secondary academic institution (program in the U.S. must begin within 12 months of graduation).
Be a graduate of a Hospitality or Culinary post-secondary academic institution and have at least 12 months of related work experience.
Have a minimum of 5 years of related full-time work experience, regardless of educational background.
