SALARY: $88,193 - $95,193 plus competitive benefits package ( WVDE Summary of Benefits ) equal to approximately 35% of direct compensation

This position provides statewide leadership in all aspects of school psychology, supports local educational agencies (LEAs), families, and Office of Special Education (OSE) staff in the continuous improvement of special education compliance and results, and serves as the OSE contact person for school psychology practices, including eligibility determination processes, Student Assistance Team (SAT) and MTSS implementation, dyslexia, dyscalculia, and school-based mental health services.

• Understands and applies federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and policies to support the effective delivery of school psychological services, special education compliance and results-driven processes.
• Provides state-level leadership for school psychologists, including but not limited to leadership and support for psycho educational assessment practices, data-based decision making, school-based mental/behavioral health services, and eligibility determination processes.
• Supports school and district personnel in the use of the SAT process and MTSS to improve academic and behavioral outcomes.
• Serves as a member of the dispute resolution team, investigating state complaints and credible allegations.
• Advises LEAs on the functions and best practices of multi-disciplinary evaluation teams.
• Promotes the use of evidence-based practices as the foundation for Specially Designed Instruction (SDI) and collaborates with the statewide SDI team to improve student achievement.
• Provides leadership, guidance, and professional learning in the areas of dyslexia and dyscalculia to improve awareness, instructional practices, and student success.
• Provides technical assistance and support to LEAs, parents, and the OSE team in the areas of school mental health services and Section 504 issues.
• Assists LEAs and schools in the development of and implementation of crisis prevention and intervention services.
• Collaborates with OSE staff and LEA personnel to provide guidance and technical assistance on Child Find requirements and discipline-related procedural safeguards.
• Performs other assignments as deemed appropriate and necessary by the State Board of Education, Associate/Assistant Superintendent, and the State Superintendent of Schools or other supervisory staff.

• Master's Degree and/or Educational Specialists (Ed.S.) Degree (at least 60 hours of graduate coursework) in School Psychology from an accredited educational institution.
• Holds a valid West Virginia School Psychologist certification at the time of employment and maintains the certification in good standing throughout the duration of employment;
  National Certification in School Psychology (NCSP) preferred.
• Experience providing technical assistance and professional development in educational settings, including at the school or LEA level; experience at a regional or state level preferred.

This position is classified as sedentary work, involving prolonged sitting (6-8 hours daily) at a desk or computer workstation. Occasional demands include standing or walking short distances within the office and lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds. This role requires close visual acuity for reading documents and computer screens, clear speaking/hearing for communication, and repetitive wrist/hand motions.
