Job Summary
Serves as Learning Specialist/Tutor Coordinator reporting to the Director of Enrichment Services. Work in conjunction with academic advisors to assist student-athletes with various needs as they relate to academics. Primary purpose is to advise and assist a specific segment of students in need of additional support services, to include at-risk, under prepared or learning disabled individuals. Advise on course selection and assist with academic preparation based on each individual student-athlete's strengths and needs.
Assist with student-athlete recruiting events and orientation. This position is responsible for the recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training and scheduling all tutors and academic coaches (part time and graduate student positions) for all other aspects of tutoring.
Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)
- Master's degree plus one year of experience or a bachelor's degree and 3 years of experience, or equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and/or experience.
- Collegiate experience is strongly preferred; experience with student-athletes is highly desirable.
- Ability to work with a diverse student-athlete population and communicate effectively with students, professors, peers and parents.
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Prioritize work tasks and handle multiple tasks quickly and efficiently.
