District Position Description
Position Title:
Paraprofessional (Instructional Teacher Aide)
Position Type: 1.0 FTE TEMPORARY Grant Position

Teacher

Job Goal:
Lead students toward the fulfullment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth and maturation.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Prepares for classroom activities, under supervision of licensed teacher;
- Works with small groups of students to reinforce material initially introduced by the teacher;
- Assists individual students in need of special attention;
- Performs clerical duties;
- Guides independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up by the teacher;
- Sets up audiovisual equipment;
- Assists teacher with non-instructional classroom duties, such as snack, toilet, and clothing routines;
- Checks notebooks, corrects papers, and supervises testing and make-up work;
- Assists in drill work;
- Assists with reading and storytelling;
- Assists small groups of students in the media center;
- Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of the certified staff;
- Participates in required training (conferences, meetings, and webinars) as assigned;
- Performs other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.
Working Conditions:
Conducts duties in a classroom environment with some exposure to environmental conditions. Requires ability to work under a degree of stress related to duties that require constant attention and working with students. Physical demands are restricted to classroom work requiring lifting/moving of items weighing up to 50 lbs. Occasional local travel and/or overnight travel may be required. Job requires the operation of standard office equipment.
Term of Employment:
This position is a temporary, full time (1.0 FTE), grant-funded position, and continued employment is contingent upon the availablity of grant funding. Employment in this position does not guarantee future or permanent employment with the district.
Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the board's policy.
