Position Summary
Holy Cross is seeking a spiritually mature, gifted leader to build and lead a Gospel-centered, biblically faithful ministry to children and families. This position may be structured as either part-time or full-time depending on the experience, availability, and gifts of the right candidate. A part-time role will focus on Sunday ministry, volunteer leadership, curriculum, family communication, and key events. A full-time role will include these responsibilities with expanded leadership in family discipleship, outreach, special events, and ministry development.

• Prioritize a growing relationship with Jesus through regular time in Scripture, prayer, worship, and personal devotion.
• Seek to live a life of holiness, repentance, integrity, and obedience consistent with the Gospel, the teaching of Scripture and the values of our community.
• Cultivate sustainable rhythms of ministry and life through Sabbath, friendship, recreation, appropriate boundaries, retreat, and other spiritual disciplines.
• Participate fully in the worshiping life and community of Holy Cross and become a member of the parish.
• Model a joyful, humble, teachable, and servant-hearted approach to ministry.

• Cast and implement a compelling vision for biblical, Gospel-centered children’s discipleship consistent with the mission, theology, and worship of Holy Cross.
• Develop a clear discipleship pathway that helps children grow from infancy toward a mature, lifelong faith in Jesus Christ.
• Recruit, train, equip, schedule, encourage, and shepherd a strong team of volunteer leaders.
• Select and develop biblically faithful curriculum, programming, resources, and tools appropriate for each stage of childhood.
• Work collaboratively with clergy, staff, and ministry leaders to integrate children into the wider life and worship of the church, particularly our preschool.

• Build meaningful relationships with parents and families.
• Equip and encourage parents to disciple their children at home through Scripture, prayer, worship, conversation, and Christian practices.
• Provide parents with practical resources and tools for navigating the spiritual and cultural challenges facing children and families.
• Help connect new families into the relational and ministry life of Holy Cross.
• Develop a thoughtful strategy for reaching, welcoming, following up with, and connecting new children and families.

• Sunday School and other Sunday morning children’s ministries.
• Nursery and early childhood ministry.
• Children’s worship and discipleship opportunities.
• Volunteer scheduling and communication.
• Classroom environments, curriculum, supplies, and ministry resources.
• Coordination with student ministry to provide a healthy transition as children grow older.
• Special events like Vacation Bible School, seasonal and holiday events, family discipleship gatherings, service and outreach opportunities for children and families.
• Work with Worship Director to build a children’s choir

• Maintain and implement Holy Cross policies and best practices for the safety and protection of children, including screening, background checks, and Presidium training.
• Maintain appropriate check-in, check-out, classroom staffing, and emergency procedures.
• Communicate regularly with parents and volunteers through email, text messaging, and other appropriate communication channels.
