Qualifications

and Skills
  • Valid South Carolina Special Education certification required (SPED)
  • Previous experience working with students with severe disabilities strongly preferred
  • Ability to adapt curriculum and instruction to address diverse needs
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills to work alongside educators and support staff
  • Compassion, patience, and commitment to supporting students academic, functional, behavioral, and life skills development
  • Understanding of best practices for creating structured and positive classroom environments
Responsibilities
  • Deliver individualized instruction to students with severe disabilities in a self-contained classroom
  • Develop and implement lessons and supports aligned with students IEPs
  • Monitor progress and document growth toward IEP goals
  • Address the academic, social, and daily living needs of students, including support with toileting when necessary
  • Foster collaboration with general education teachers, special education colleagues, therapists, administrators, and families
  • Actively participate in IEP meetings and contribute insights for student plans
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records and communicate regularly with caregivers and school stakeholders
