We’re seeking a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with a structural background and at least two years of leadership experience to join our team and contribute to the design and oversight of metal building systems. This opportunity is available in Columbus, Georgia and the Columbia, South Carolina Metropolitan Area.

In this role, you will work closely with detailing teams, vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders while also providing technical leadership and mentorship to engineering staff to ensure seamless project execution.
Who You AreYou are an experienced professional engineer with a passion for designing innovative structures and leading engineering efforts. You excel at:
- Creating safe, accurate, and cost-effective designs
- Providing technical direction and guidance to junior engineers
- Utilizing advanced software tools to ensure structural integrity
- Working collaboratively across teams and disciplines
- Striving for continuous improvement—for yourself and your team
- Creative Design – Develop safe and economical structures that meet project requirements and adhere to industry codes and standards. Each project is unique.
- Technical Analysis – Utilize proprietary software for frame, secondary, bracing, crane, mezzanine, and panel analysis to ensure structural integrity.
- Leadership & Mentorship – Provide technical oversight, guidance, and mentorship to engineers and designers, supporting professional growth and consistency in design practices.
- Collaborative Approach – Work closely with the Detailing Department and other teams to communicate design intent, resolve issues, and ensure seamless project execution.
- Oversight – Review, check, and approve structural drawings and calculations for accuracy, constructability, and code compliance.
- Continuous Learning – Stay current on evolving codes, standards, and best practices while contributing to process improvements across the division.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering from an ABET-accredited school
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- At least two years of engineering leadership or supervisory experience
- Proficient in verbal and written communication in English
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S. (no sponsorship required)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Educational focus on structural engineering
- Experience leading or reviewing structural designs
- Strong understanding of current building codes and standard industry practices
- Experience in pre-engineered metal building systems
- Ability to mentor and develop engineering talent
- Regular travel and on-site visits required
- Ability to access multi-level job sites, sometimes using construction elevators
- Must wear protective equipment (safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hard hats, etc.) while on-site
- Flexible schedule with hours that may extend beyond regular business days
