Are you a bridge engineer with a passion for designing and delivering complex infrastructure projects? A leading, employee-owned engineering firm is looking for a Senior Transportation Bridge Design Manager to lead bridge design and project delivery across the Southeast. This is a hands‑on leadership role managing DOT and municipal bridge projects, from concept through construction, while mentoring a team of talented engineers.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Lead bridge design projects from concept through construction, including steel, concrete, and prestressed concrete structures
- Oversee multidisciplinary bridge design teams, ensuring compliance with AASHTO LRFD, DOT, and local standards
- Review and approve structural calculations, plans, and specifications
- Serve as the primary client liaison for bridge project delivery and technical performance
- Mentor and develop junior bridge engineers and project managers
- Support proposal development and technical leadership to grow the business
- Manage budgets, schedules, and delivery of multiple complex bridge projects
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in South Carolina
- 10–15 years of bridge engineering experience, including leadership of DOT or municipal bridge projects
- Deep experience in steel, concrete, and prestressed concrete bridge design, inspection, and load rating
- Strong knowledge of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications, AASHTO Manual for Bridge Evaluation, and bridge evaluation processes
- Proficiency in design and analysis software: AASHTOWare (BrR/D), Midas Civil, STAAD, LEAP Concrete & Steel, Microstation, Open Bridge, AutoCAD, Civil 3D
- NBIS certification and experience with state DOT bridge standards are a plus
- Proven ability to manage technical teams, budgets, and schedules
