Engineering Project Manager (Product Development)
Our client is an electrical equipment manufacturer specializing in designing tools for professional electricians. They are looking to add a hands‑on Project Manager to their growing team.
What you'll be doing:- The Project Manager is responsible for leading cross‑functional teams to develop and launch new products or enhance existing product lines, from conceptual design through production launch and post‑launch evaluation
- This role bridges the gap between engineering, design, manufacturing, and marketing to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to specified quality standards.
The Project Manager will guide projects through a structured phase‑gate process, managing scope, resources, and risks in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment. - Project Leadership & Lifecycle Management: Lead end‑to‑end product development projects, from conception, feasibility, and prototyping to manufacturing launch.
- Cross‑Functional Coordination: Act as the central point of contact for engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, marketing, and sales teams to ensure alignment.
- Project Planning & Scheduling: Develop, maintain, and execute detailed project plans, timelines (Gantt charts), and milestones to meet launch dates.
- Budgeting & Cost Analysis: Manage project budgets, track expenses, and perform cost analysis to ensure project profitability.
- Manufacturing Integration: Work with production teams to transition products from design to manufacturing (transfer to production), ensuring Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles are applied.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of experience in project management, specifically within a manufacturing or new product development environment.
- Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., Solid Works), engineering change management, and manufacturing techniques.
- Project Management
Skills:
Proven experience with project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, SAP) and a strong understanding of stage‑gate processes. - Soft Skills: Strong leadership, negotiation, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
- Prior Project Management experience within a manufacturing environment, focused on metal fabrication
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing techniques (e.g., Kaizen, 5S).
