We are seeking an experienced Senior Transportation Engineer / Project Manager with 10+ years of progressive experience in transportation and roadway design. This role is responsible for leading complex infrastructure projects, overseeing design development, mentoring junior staff, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, compliant, and cost-effective transportation solutions. The position can be based in Columbia or Charleston and will include work across the state of South Carolina, as well as partnering with other offices in GA & NC as needed.
Our client a is national, multi-disciplinary engineering consulting firm with an established presence with SCDOT and regional municipalities for their work in roadway and bridge design.
- Lead the design and development of transportation infrastructure projects including highways, roadways, intersections, bridges, and multimodal facilities
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables to ensure timely completion
- Coordinate with clients, municipalities, regulatory agencies, and internal teams
- Oversee and mentor junior engineers and design staff
- Support proposal preparation, scope development, and client presentations
- Perform quality assurance and quality control reviews on engineering documents
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- 10+ years of transportation, roadway, and/bridge design experience
- Strong knowledge of SCDOT and municipal regulations for transportation project
- Proficiency in design software such as AASHTO, Open Roads, Civil 3D, or similar programs used for design of roads, bridges, and other transportation infrastructure
- Experience managing complex transportation projects
- Strong communication, leadership, and project management skills
