Job Description & How to Apply Below
Location: Columbia
- Support a manufacturing operation by designing, programming, debugging, and maintaining PLC-based control systems used across assembly, test, and standalone production equipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex controls-related issues on both legacy and newer equipment, partnering closely with technicians, process engineers, and operations to restore and improve equipment performance.
- Develop, modify, and maintain control logic using Siemens and Allen‑Bradley PLC platforms, supporting a mix of older systems and newly deployed equipment.
- Execute scoped controls projects, including small system upgrades, equipment modifications, bench or standalone cells, and control improvements to enhance reliability, performance, and standardization.
- Support new programs and continuous improvement initiatives by interpreting control requirements, implementing solutions, debugging, commissioning, and documenting changes.
- Contribute to longer‑term controls strategy and standardization efforts, helping modernize controls architecture, improve programming consistency, and reduce technical risk across the facility.
- Create and maintain electrical schematics, system block diagrams, and clear documentation to ensure solutions are supportable and transferable long term.
- 6+ years of experience in controls engineering, automation, or manufacturing controls within fast‑paced industrial environments.
- Strong hands‑on PLC programming experience, with depth beyond basic modifications; experience with Siemens PLCs is strongly preferred, with Allen‑Bradley experience also valued.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex electromechanical systems, including sensors, actuators, motors, drives, and industrial communication networks.
- Experience supporting and improving legacy equipment, as well as commissioning or modifying newer control systems.
- Ability to execute controls‑related projects independently from scope definition through implementation, debugging, and documentation.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical solutions clearly and concisely to engineers, technicians, and cross‑functional partners.
- Collaborative mindset with a willingness to document work, follow standards, and support solutions long term.
- Experience in automotive, industrial manufacturing, or high‑volume electromechanical production environments preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline, or equivalent hands‑on controls engineering experience.
