Product Definition Engineer – Job Description
The Product Definition Engineer plays a key role in bringing new wind blade designs to life by driving the detailed design and documentation of blade development projects. The primary objective is to deliver high‑quality design and documentation for new wind blades on time and with excellence. The role partners closely with engineering, manufacturing, and quality stakeholders to turn innovative blade concepts into production‑ready solutions.
Responsibilities- Create CAD models and drawings for blade components and implement design changes.
- Develop manufacturing and quality documentation for blade components/processes.
- Perform stack‑up analysis to meet design requirements.
- Provide on‑site support for test blade, prototype, and 0‑series production start‑up and validation.
- Execute design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using engineering principles and company standards.
- Participate as presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of mechanical design experience, preferably in large‑scale composite structures or turbine blade components.
- Proven track record leading a product definition phase for at least one full NPI cycle from concept to serial production.
- Composite Design – 3+ years in composite ply‑stacking, lay‑up definition.
- BOM Management – manage complex EBOMs/MBOMs with 500+ line items, ensuring 100% accuracy.
- Tolerance Analysis – perform stack‑up analysis and apply GD&T per ASME Y14.5 to achieve ≥95% first‑time yield.
- Manufacturing/Product Documentation – build necessary documentation for factory blade production.
- CAD Mastery – 2500+ hours advanced modeling in Siemens NX or CATIA (surfaces, large assemblies).
- PLM Systems – 3+ years experience with Teamcenter or Enovia for version control, change management (ECR/ECN), and data integrity.
- Pay range: $89,300.00 – $, with geographic differential adjustments.
- Discretionary annual bonus eligibility.
