DCS Service Engineer / Automation Engineer

Open to candidates located in Virginia, North Carolina, or South Carolina. Travel:
Approximately 15-20% within the Mid‑Atlantic region.
Compensation: $110,000 – $140,000 base salary plus annual bonus opportunity up to 10%. The salary may extend based on experience.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and support DCS modernization and migration projects.
- Upgrade legacy control systems to modern platforms.
- Support migrations such as Honeywell TDC 3000 to Honeywell Experion.
- Integrate proprietary technologies with existing customer DCS environments.
- Modify and develop control system software to support new equipment and process requirements.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex automation and control system issues.
- Provide technical support during commissioning, startup, and service activities.
- Travel to customer sites throughout the Mid‑Atlantic region as needed.
- Work directly with plant personnel, operators, maintenance teams, and engineering leadership.
- Serve as a technical consultant and trusted advisor to customers.
- Support continuous improvement and operational reliability initiatives.

- Additional legacy and modern DCS platforms across the pulp and paper industry.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or related discipline.
- 5+ years of DCS, controls, automation, or process control experience.
- Strong programming and configuration experience within industrial control systems.
- Hands‑on experience with one or more major DCS platforms:
Honeywell, Delta
V, Foxboro, ABB. - Experience performing system upgrades, migrations, or integration projects.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex process control and automation issues.
- Strong customer‑facing communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to travel approximately 5‑20% of the time.
- Honeywell Experion platform experience.
- Honeywell migration project experience.
- Pulp and paper industry experience.
- Mill operations experience.
- Process control engineering background.
- Customer support or field service engineering experience.
