Job Summary

The Compliance Manager for Access Control & Gate Systems serves as the primary resource for ensuring all access control systems, gate operators, and related low‑voltage security installations meet all applicable codes, standards, permitting requirements, and regulations. This role oversees permitting and approval activities, and coordinates with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) to ensure compliant system design with fire, electrical, life safety, and building codes.

Additionally, the manager maintains critical compliance documentation and supports successful project execution from design through final inspection and approval.

The ideal candidate is experienced in permitting, compliance, or code enforcement related to access control systems, gate operators, automated gates, and other low‑voltage systems. The position requires a strong working knowledge of access control platforms and hardware (Lenel, Genetec, etc.), including the design and implementation of access control, fire/life safety, and electrical systems in commercial and industrial environments.

What You’ll Do
  • Review access control, gate operator, and low‑voltage security system designs to ensure compliance with applicable building, fire, life safety, electrical, and industry standards.
  • Interpret local, state, and federal code requirements and develop permitting strategies that support timely approvals across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Become a subject matter expert on diverse municipal codes, interpreting requirements and meticulously documenting them for future requests.
  • Evaluate compliance requirements related to electrical hardware, gate operator safety devices, emergency egress systems, fail‑safe/fail‑secure functionality, and structural installations.
  • Partner with internal and external resources such as engineers, project management, inspections, and sales teams to incorporate compliance requirements into project planning, design, permitting, and execution.
  • Conduct final project compliance reviews to verify adherence to applicable codes, permit requirements, and approval conditions.
What You’ll Bring
  • Proven ability to manage multiple demanding projects and deadlines simultaneously without sacrificing quality.
  • Strong independent decision‑making and self‑sufficiency.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to teamwork and positive company culture.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and technical specifications, with strong attention to detail in documentation, recordkeeping, and archiving.
  • Extensive experience securing permitting approvals and interpreting complex codes, regulations, and jurisdictional requirements.
  • Hands‑on experience with access control platforms and hardware (Lenel, Genetec, etc.) and with the design/implementation of access control, fire/life safety, and electrical systems in commercial and industrial settings.
  • High level of experience in permitting, compliance, or code enforcement for access control systems, gate operators, automated gates, and other low‑voltage systems.
