Duties / Responsibilities
- Design foundry tooling using Creo following standards and best practices for no-bake molding processes
- Handle RFQ and tooling cost estimation activities
- Design pattern tooling and core boxes with proper layout, clearances, and parting lines
- Analyze and resolve casting defects and scrap issues using root cause methods
- Perform re-gating and tooling optimization to improve quality and yield
- Conduct casting simulations (Solid Cast preferred) to validate designs
- Collaborate with managers, engineers, tool designers, and pattern makers for tool build and process flow
- Provide direction to suppliers and pattern makers during tooling build projects
- Support shop floor activities and continuous improvement initiatives
Technical Skills (Required)
- Strong foundry engineering knowledge (no-bake and cold box processes)
- Experience in foundry tooling design (patterns, core boxes, tooling layouts)
- Proficiency in Creo (CAD modeling)
- Ability to read machining drawings and GD&T
- Experience with casting simulation tools (Solid Cast preferred)
- Strong casting defect analysis and resolution skills
- Knowledge of CNC milling processes
- Ability to work with and direct suppliers on tooling build projects
- Strong cross-functional communication with engineering, manufacturing, and shop floor teams
- Adaptability to shop floor and production environments
- Minimum 5 years of relevant foundry/tooling experience
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Internships will not be considered as relevant experience
