Location: Caldwell Village
Responsibilities
- Inspect roadway projects, performing inspection, material sampling, and testing.
- Check the placement of asphalt, concrete curb and gutter, sidewalk, storm drain, and other concrete roadway structures.
- Inspect traffic control devices (signs, signals, and pavement markings) for compliance, deficiencies, damage, or possible sight obstruction using state and federal guidelines.
- Inspect miscellaneous roadway items and perform all required traffic control and erosion control inspections.
- Assist in determining and resolving utility conflicts.
- Work as an inspector on bridge projects, performing inspection, material sampling, and testing.
- Inspect placement of concrete for all cast-in-place bridge elements and other concrete roadway structures.
- Assist in inspecting installation of driven piles, drilled piles, and drilled shaft foundations.
- Inspect placement of embankment material, stone bases, and storm drain for bridge approaches and realignments.
- Inspect miscellaneous bridge and structural items and perform all required traffic control and erosion control inspections.
- Assist with surveying, checking, and verifying all offsets and grades associated with all phases of construction.
- Act as inspector/liaison on roadway and bridge projects, performing EEO and wage regulation interviews and maintaining project correspondence with the Department and contractor personnel.
- High school diploma and one year of experience related to the area of employment, or approved acceptable equivalence.
- Valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required.
This position involves frequent bending, kneeling, stooping and lifting up to 50 lbs. It requires walking for extended periods, treading rough terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and exposure to natural environmental hazards and occasional noise. Work may be required outside of normal work schedules and weekends.
