About the role

As a Principal Quality Engineer you will lead and mentor others in a variety of quality assurance duties to ensure implementation of the Westinghouse QMS, WCAP system and ASME program. You will report to the Senior Manager of quality and be located at the VC Summer site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support administration of the WEC QA programs.
  • Support the implementation of the Westinghouse Quality Management System, project quality plans, and project procedures for APX projects.
  • Establish and oversee project team training requirements related to project requirements and implementing procedures.
  • Work with engineering, supply chain, and project management to support APX projects.
  • Maintain compliance with the Westinghouse Quality Management System for project execution.
  • Perform quality oversight of specified activities.
  • Be the primary contact with the Authorized Nuclear Inspector Supervisor (ANIS) and Authorized Nuclear Inspector (ANI).
  • Maintain ASME Section III Code Program manuals, including:
    • Lead manual (and supporting procedure) updates.
    • Ensure the manual meets the organization’s process needs and reflects organizational changes.
    • Ensure Level 2 implementing procedures meet ASME Section III Code and Westinghouse Code Program requirements.
    • Ensure activities affecting quality are performed in accordance with the Westinghouse ASME Section III Code Program.
  • Support ASME Section III Code Projects, including:
    • Mentor employees on ASME Code applications (e.g., Data Reports and Certified Material Test Reports, CMTRs) and compliance for new (e.g., AP1000) and established Westinghouse projects.
    • Review work process documents for compliance to Code, specification, QA program.
    • Ensure that quality commitments and schedule align with customer needs and expectations.
    • Ensure ASME Section III Code Program requirements have been met prior to Code Certification (Stamping) for Section III Components including National Board Registration.
  • Follow-up on corrective actions, evaluate responses and ensure objective evidence substantiates closure.
  • Support preparation efforts and host ASME Section III Code surveys, Authorized Inspection Agency (AIA) Audits and internal assessments of the Westinghouse Code Program, ensuring required responses to all ASME Section III Code findings are correct, complete, submitted and closed on time.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in an applicable field.
  • Minimum 8 years of applicable quality experience.
  • Knowledge of nuclear quality assurance regulations, codes, and standards including 10

    CFR
    50 Appendix B, ASME NQA‑1, ASME Section III B&PV Code.
Compensation

The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $103,200 to $129,000 per year.
