Job Overview
Provide overall leadership for the Environmental and Sustainability systems at the manufacturing site in support of a safe and profitable operation that strives to continuously improve and reduce mill impact on the environment.
Responsibilities- Ensure compliance with K-C and regulatory controls related to environmental matters.
- Apply extensive knowledge of EPA Clean Air Act, SCDES, and other federal and state agencies.
- Review and document EMOC.
- Maintain chemical inventory (SARA Reporting) and coordinate with staff on projects with air impacts.
- Own the environmental and sustainability components within the site’s E&S Management System.
- Identify environmental aspects, hazards, emerging requirements and verify that they are managed to acceptable risk levels.
- Define and implement the site’s environmental and sustainability risk reduction strategy.
- Lead the facility’s ISO 14001:2026 implementation and related improvement initiatives.
- Embed K-C’s E&S strategies and partner with segment and global teams to ensure consistent application of E&S standards.
- Drive facility E&S objectives through pipeline ideation and execution, CPC/Sustainability system alignment, and calibration with plant and central teams.
- Deliver Sustainability 2030 goals, including water use reduction, climate emissions reduction, waste elimination, and chemicals of concern elimination.
- Lead environmental event investigations and ensure root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions.
- Train all employees and ensure contractor compliance with environmental standards.
- Implement digital reporting and assurance systems to improve resource efficiency; maintain data integrity.
- Leverage technology platforms for improved decision‑making and problem‑solving.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Pulp & Paper Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Science, or equivalent.
- 5+ years of E&S experience in air permitting, chemical management, SPCC, and SWPPP programs within a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated management and leadership experience; strong communication, collaboration and influencing skills.
- DOT/RCRA training or willingness to obtain it.
