Network Telecom Engineer (Avaya/Genesys) – Contract-to-Hire
Hybrid | Columbia, SC
Schedule: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday onsite (additional onsite as needed)
Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM (minimal travel, occasional on-call/weekend support)

We are seeking an experienced Network Telecom Engineer to join a collaborative enterprise Telecom team supporting mission‑critical contact center technologies. This role focuses on designing, implementing, and supporting Avaya and Genesys Cloud call center environments while partnering with business stakeholders to deliver reliable voice and communication solutions.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in telecommunications, VoIP, contact center platforms, and enterprise networking, along with experience designing IVR solutions, call routing, and integrations. This is a technical engineering role—not a full‑stack software development position.
Ideal CandidateAn experienced Network Telecom Engineer with 8+ years of enterprise telecommunications and VoIP experience, including strong hands‑on expertise with Avaya contact center solutions and/or Genesys Cloud (CCaaS). The ideal candidate has experience designing IVR solutions, call routing, and enterprise voice infrastructure, excels at troubleshooting complex telecom environments, and enjoys collaborating with business and technical teams to deliver reliable, scalable communication solutions.
Responsibilities- Design, develop, and support enterprise telecommunications and VoIP solutions.
- Lead the design and implementation of Avaya Call Center solutions, including IVR, Vectors, VDNs, call routing, and digital channels.
- Support enterprise Genesys Cloud (CCaaS) environments and contact center operations.
- Research, evaluate, and recommend new telecommunications hardware, software, and networking solutions.
- Perform engineering studies, feasibility analyses, and cost/benefit evaluations for new technologies.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including:
- Functional Requirements Documents (FRDs)
- Workflow diagrams
- Network diagrams
- Integration specifications
- Participate in and lead discovery and design workshops with business and technical stakeholders.
- Plan and support telecommunications infrastructure, equipment layouts, and system implementations.
- Monitor system performance, capacity, security, and network traffic to ensure optimal operation.
- Develop and maintain telecommunications disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
- Work closely with vendors to support upgrades and ensure compatibility with enterprise systems.
- Mentor junior team members and provide technical guidance.
- Ensure compliance with corporate security policies and government contract requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- OR
- Associate degree plus 2 years of related experience
- OR
- 4 additional years of related experience in lieu of a degree
- 8+ years of telecommunications and VoIP engineering experience
- Experience supporting Avaya contact center platforms
- Experience with CCaaS (Contact Center as a Service) platforms
- Strong understanding of:
- VoIP technologies
- Enterprise telecommunications systems
- LAN/WAN networking
- SD-WAN
- VPN
- Cloud networking solutions
- Experience producing technical documentation and workflow diagrams
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills

You will join a collaborative Telecom team consisting of: 4 Telecom Analysts
The team supports enterprise call center solutions for multiple business areas, while maintaining highly available voice and contact center services.
The hourly rate for this position is $59.00.
