- Optimize manufacturing processes to improve product quality, productivity, yield, and cost efficiency.
- Apply materials science and metallurgical principles to evaluate conductor materials, manufacturing methods, and product performance.
- Analyze manufacturing data to identify trends, reduce variation, and improve process capability.
- Lead root cause investigations and implement sustainable corrective and preventive actions.
- Support new product development, process validation, and successful production implementation.
- Partner with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering teams to identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead and support Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma projects focused on operational excellence.
- Develop and maintain engineering documentation, manufacturing procedures, technical specifications, and process standards.
- Evaluate new equipment, technologies, raw materials, vendors, and manufacturing methods to improve operational performance.
- Manage engineering projects from concept through implementation while meeting project timelines and budgets.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, local, and company safety regulations while promoting a culture of safety throughout the facility.
- Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and training to production personnel and effectively communicate complex engineering concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Build strong cross-functional relationships to drive collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Within your first year, you will:
- Develop a strong understanding of International Wire High-Performance Conductors' manufacturing processes and products.
- Identify and implement process improvements that improve productivity, quality, and efficiency.
- Become a trusted technical resource for Operations and Quality teams.
- Successfully lead engineering initiatives that reduce waste and improve manufacturing performance.
- Contribute to a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
Required
- Bachelor's degree in metallurgical engineering, Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Experience in Process Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related industrial manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of materials science and metallurgical principles as they apply to conductor materials and wire manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of engineering principles, project management practices, and budget planning and administration.
- Experience with process optimization, statistical analysis, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate complex information and implement effective operational improvements.
- Experience managing engineering projects and coordinating multiple priorities.
- Ability to evaluate equipment, manufacturing methods, vendors, and technical solutions to improve operational performance.
