Process Engineer

Process Engineer – Roebuck Manufacturing Site

Process Engineer will collaborate with the Operations Team to improve efficiency of the Roebuck manufacturing process through cost reduction, value creation, improved process capability, and process equipment reliability. The role includes process improvement, troubleshooting, project management, and support of process control systems and equipment. Additional responsibilities involve optimization of mechanical systems and safety initiatives.

• Duty 75%:
  Process Improvement – support manufacturing in troubleshooting and response to process upsets, liaise with R&D to scale up new technologies and processes, identify and lead projects such as improving cycle time, reducing process downtime and cleaning time, reducing energy usage, improving process capability, reducing reactor fouling, yield loss, filtration time/materials.
• 15%:
  New Product Introductions – work with Synthomer R&D to translate lab‑scale processes to commercial scale reactors, write and improve batch recipes, document new product introductions, lead scale‑up reviews with R&D.
• 5%:
  Process Control Support – support DCS system routine maintenance, update and documentation, manage lifecycle of control systems, provide programming support for site capital projects, maintain and improve OSI PI deployment.
• 5%:
  Safety / Health / Environmental Improvement – lead or participate in Process Safety Initiatives, provide engineering support for safety and environmental improvement projects.
• Annual goals: implement site improvement initiatives, identify and champion new improvement ideas, support equipment & maintenance functions, lead initiatives to improve safety culture and performance.

• Minimum BS in Chemical Engineering or related technical degree.
• More than 3 years of hands‑on chemical manufacturing experience (batch emulsion polymer production preferred).
• Delta V Control System experience preferred.
• Understanding of and support for site safety culture and improvement efforts.
• Ability to use analytical/statistical tools (DOE, Six Sigma) in problem resolution and process optimization.
• Strong prioritization and multi‑project management skills.
• Team‑oriented collaboration and communication skills, with ability to lead small work teams.
• Willingness to work outside normal hours and on weekends for project management or start‑up; occasional travel may be required.
• Physical requirements:
  
  ability to wear safety equipment, respond to calls and solve problems during off‑shift hours, lift up to 20 lb (occasionally up to 55 lb).
