What You'll Do
- Lead the mechanical systems design for a variety of commercial, institutional, educational, and public building projects.
- Develop plumbing system designs for new construction and renovation projects, with additional involvement in HVAC and related building systems as applicable.
- Prepare construction documents, engineering calculations, technical specifications, and supporting design documentation.
- Coordinate closely with architects, structural and electrical engineers, contractors, and project stakeholders throughout all phases of design and construction.
- Participate in project meetings, client presentations, site visits, and construction administration activities.
- Develop practical, efficient, and code‑compliant engineering solutions that align with project objectives and client expectations.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineering staff as appropriate.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
- Demonstrated experience designing mechanical building systems with strong expertise in plumbing system design.
- Experience producing construction documents using AutoCAD and/or Revit.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and project coordination skills.
- Willingness to relocate to the Columbia, South Carolina area for this on‑site position.
- Approximately 10 or more years of consulting engineering experience is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain South Carolina licensure.
- Knowledge of fire protection systems within commercial building environments.
- Experience supporting educational, institutional, healthcare, commercial, or government facility projects.
- Familiarity with sustainable building practices or LEED principles is beneficial.
