Electronics Technician
This role focuses on testing, troubleshooting, and performing failure analysis on aerospace ignition systems using a wide range of electrical and environmental test equipment. You will ensure products meet stringent internal and customer standards, support engineering with root cause investigations and corrective actions, and contribute to the design, assembly, and maintenance of specialized test equipment used in the manufacture of turbine ignition system products.
Responsibilities
- Perform in-process and final acceptance testing of aerospace ignition system products using electrical test equipment in accordance with internal and customer standards.
- Conduct detailed failure analysis on nonconforming units, working closely with engineering to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Operate oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, ampere meters, AC and DC power supplies, function generators, and various test loads to verify product performance.
- Program and operate environmental test equipment, including high temperature ovens, thermal cycle chambers, and vibration test equipment, to execute test plans and operational tests on ignition systems.
- Assemble, configure, and maintain electrical and environmental test equipment used in the manufacture of turbine ignition system products.
- Perform routine maintenance and limited troubleshooting and repair on environmental test equipment to ensure reliability and uptime.
- Assist engineering in the design and development of new electrical test equipment and fixtures to support production and testing needs.
- Accurately document all aspects of testing, failure analysis, and equipment maintenance in accordance with standard operating instructions and quality system requirements.
- Use schematics and wiring diagrams to diagnose and resolve electrical and electronic issues at the circuit board level.
- Apply soldering skills to work with surface mount components on printed circuit boards as needed for test, repair, or rework activities.
Essential Skills
- Associate degree in a technical field of study with a concentration in electronics, such as Industrial Electronics, Electronics Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, or Engineering Technology.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in the assembly and testing of mechanical and electrical assemblies.
- Proficient use of electrical test equipment including oscilloscopes, digital multimeters (DMMs), power supplies, and function generators.
- Ability to develop basic PLC programs and set up and program temperature controllers.
- Demonstrated ability to solder surface mount components at the printed circuit board (PCB) level.
- Hands-on experience working with electronic components at the circuit board level, including timers, comparators, resistors, diodes, capacitors, and logic chips.
- Ability to read and use schematics and wiring diagrams to troubleshoot electrical and electronic issues.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for documenting test results and collaborating with engineering and production teams.
- Solid troubleshooting skills for electrical, electronic, and test equipment issues.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Solder certification to J standard and/or IPC-610 training is a plus.
- Experience with environmental test equipment such as high temperature ovens, thermal cycle chambers, and vibration test systems.
- Experience in aerospace or high-reliability electronics testing is beneficial.
- Familiarity with assembling and maintaining custom test fixtures and loads.
- Comfort working within structured standard operating instructions and quality system requirements.

Work Environment
This position operates in a production and test environment focused on aerospace ignition systems. Typical work hours are Monday through Friday, with a start time of 6:00 a.m. or 7:00 a.m. and an end time between 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Occasional Saturday work may be required, generally for 4–5 hour shifts but potentially for a full day depending on project needs.
You will work as part of a department of approximately 32 people, using a variety of electrical test instruments, environmental chambers, vibration equipment, and computer-based tools such as Microsoft Office. The environment is structured, team-oriented, and centered on precision, safety, and adherence to established procedures.
