Mechanical Project Engineer I
Regular Full-Time Ridgeville, SC, US
The Mechanical Project Engineer I reports to the Plant Engineering Manager with the responsibility for providing mechanical engineering design and project management at Resonac Inc. Electrode manufacturing facility. The position includes project management/engineering for capital projects (from project requirements to specification and design to installation); major equipment modification for reliability improvement; equipment rebuilds; and limited technical support for the plant Maintenance Department.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering(required).
- 5+ years of engineering design and/or project management experience.
- Knowledge of PMBOK or similar methodologies.
- Heavy industry and hydraulics/pneumatics/material handling or thermal oil experience preferred
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Inventor, MS Office, and SAP.
- Strong communication, design, analytical, and troubleshooting skills, including root cause analysis.
Key Accountabilities:
Manage all phases of engineering projects from project request to project closure:
- Lead project team in the development of a solution to a project request.
- Design solutions& produce drawings based upon scope of work & interactionwithend-user.
- Formulate scope/specifications for the purchase of capital and non-capital equipment and contract labor.
- Develop andutilizeproject risk management plans.
- Prepare appropriation requests for capital equipment purchases& major repairs.
- Accomplish project work with vendors & contractors through professional and effective use of established departmental and divisional purchasing procedures (bid inquiry, bid procedure, liaison, and contract specifications)
- Develop Bills of Material & recommendations for spares for all project equipment
- Provide training to end-users on changes to existing equipment and new installations.
- Recommendations for Maintenance on PM activities for new equipment
- Insist on the highest expectations of quality, safety,&housekeeping from Contractor son jobs for which you arePPR.
- Support focused improvement efforts through improvements to maintenance practices and design changes to existing equipment.
- Support Operations in assigned plant areas by staying engaged in equipment reliability and knowledge of recurring malfunctions.
- Provide necessary updating to drawings created by modifications to equipment, errors, etc.
- Assures compliance with Company & Plant policies, health andsafety standards, environmental regulations, hazardous waste, & good housekeeping practices.
Physical & Work Environment Demands:
- Sit for extended periods andmaintaingood manual dexterity.
- Operate office equipment safely and accurately.
- Lift, push, or pull up to 30lbsand wear required PPE.
- Occasionally work overtime and in moderate noise, fumes, or around moving equipment.
