Novus Capstone is seeking a highly motivated Senior Aerospace Engineer to support the
research, design, development, integration, testing, and operational deployment of small satellite and
unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) systems at our new Quail Run Engineering Facility. The successful candidate will contribute to multidisciplinary aerospace programs spanning concept development, systems engineering, flight hardware, mission planning, prototyping, test operations, and production support.
This position offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge aerospace technologies, including small satellite systems, autonomous aircraft, and advanced payloads supporting commercial, civil, and defense applications.
Typical duties include:
- Lead the design, systems engineering, analysis, integration, and testing of small satellite and UAV platforms.
- Develop engineering requirements, specifications, interface control documentation, and technical reports.
- Perform system-level trade studies, performance analyses, and mission assessments.
- Support aircraft and spacecraft configuration development and system architecture activities.
- Conduct/supervise structural, thermal, propulsion, flight performance, and aerodynamic analyses as
- required.
- Participate in hardware integration, laboratory testing, environmental testing, and flight readiness reviews.
- Support flight test planning, execution, data collection, and post-flight analysis.
- Assist with spacecraft mission planning, orbit analysis, and operational concept development.
- Develop engineering models, simulations, and mission and orbit analytical tools.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams including mechanical, electrical, software,
- manufacturing, and operations personnel.
- Support prototype development, production transition, and sustainment activities.
- Prepare and deliver technical presentations to customers, management, and stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with program requirements, industry standards, and quality assurance processes.
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering or related discipline.
- 9 Years aerospace engineering experience with Bachelor's Degree or; 7 Years with Master's Degree or; 4
Years with PhD.
- Current DoD Top Secret or DOE Q security clearance.
- Knowledge of aircraft and spacecraft design principles.
- Proficiency in engineering analysis and modeling tools.
- Understanding of systems engineering processes and requirements development.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary engineering environment and provide technical leadership.
- Demonstrated technical writing and communication skills, including experience preparing technical
- documents, engineering reports, customer-presentations.
- Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering.
- Experience with small satellite development programs.
- Experience supporting UAV/UAS design, integration, or flight testing.
- Knowledge of orbital mechanics and mission analysis.
- Experience with autonomous systems and vehicle guidance, navigation, and control.
- Familiarity with aviation and aerospace regulatory requirements.
- Experience with rapid prototyping, additive manufacturing, composite structures, or advanced materials.
- Experience working within DoD space or aerospace programs.
- FAA Part 107 Qualification.
