Position OverviewInterns will engage in various aspects of the construction process, including observing and documenting field activities. Additionally, they will contribute to pre-construction civil engineering design, planning, modification, permitting, and analysis for projects of varying sizes and scopes. Interns will tackle complex problems, collaborate across disciplines, and assist project managers in realizing our client’s vision for a built environment. Other responsibilities include developing familiarity with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Bunnell Lammons and client practices, procedures, and standards.
Interns will also perform calculations, data reduction of test results, and engage in daily communication with contractors, technicians, and various others.
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
- Applicants should be in the process of pursuing an ABET-accredited engineering degree (Bachelors or Master’s) in one of the following majors:
- Civil Engineering (with a focus on Geotechnical, Materials, or construction)
- Environmental Engineering (with a focus on water and air resources)
- Mechanical Engineering (with a focus on HVAC, Refrigeration, and Systems)
- Valid Driver's License with Clean Motor Vehicle Driving history (3 years)
- Ability to work outdoors on a construction site in all seasons and weather conditions for extended periods of time, and during regular construction hours
- You must be self-motivated, able to efficiently work independently while completing scheduled tasks.
- Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with team members, BLE leadership, clients, local, state, and federal authorities of all levels.
- Must be detail oriented and work in a time conscious and time effective manner.
- Basic knowledge in the operation of smartphones and computers for communication and record keeping (MS Office applications Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- Ability to stand, walk, kneel, stoop, bend, lift (70-85 pounds), tug and pull full (wheelbarrow of concrete and/or soil), on unstable, unpaved ground.
