The Reliability Engineer is responsible for identifying opportunities and implementing solutions to maximize equipment reliability, reduce unplanned downtime, and extend asset life. This role will establish and optimize maintenance strategies, improve equipment performance, and reduce life-cycle costs across the site.
Reliability Engineer Responsibilities:
- Promote a zero Environmental Health & Safety incident culture by supporting incident investigations, identifying root causes, implementing preventive actions, and correcting unsafe conditions.
- Lead Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) for maintenance, equipment, and controls issues and implement sustainable corrective actions.
- Apply structured problem-solving techniques such as 5-Why, Ishikawa/Fishbone analysis, and other root cause methodologies.
- Develop and optimize equipment care strategies, including Preventive Maintenance (PM), Predictive Maintenance (PdM), and Condition-Based Maintenance (CBM), to reduce unscheduled downtime and extend asset life.
- Establish and maintain equipment criticality rankings to prioritize maintenance and reliability efforts.
- Use reliability data, equipment performance metrics, and other analytics to identify loss drivers, prioritize improvements, and measure results.
- Support daily troubleshooting, maintenance planning, and equipment repair activities.
- Troubleshoot complex electrical, controls, mechanical, and machinery issues that impact production.
- Promote consistency and reliability by standardizing equipment, procedures, and operating practices.
- Support reliable equipment delivery from the engineering/concept phase through production.
- Train and develop maintenance and operations personnel on reliability concepts, tools, and techniques.
- Apply process control concepts, including variation, Statistical Process Control (SPC), and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability while reducing overall life-cycle costs.
- Perform other related duties consistent with the nature of the position as assigned.
Reliability Engineer
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering;
Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred. - 3+ years of reliability engineering experience in a heavy industrial or continuous manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated experience with systematic troubleshooting, Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), and sustaining corrective actions.
- Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Working knowledge of reliability, maintenance, and equipment improvement methodologies.
- Ability to analyze equipment and reliability data to identify problems and prioritize improvements.
