Events Services Coordinator for Colonial Life Arena

The University of South Carolina is seeking a high‑energy individual who thrives in fast‑paced environments to serve as Events Services Coordinator for the iconic Colonial Life Arena (CLA) and Carolina Coliseum. This position supports operational excellence behind live entertainment, athletic, and special event experiences. From sold‑out concerts and championship athletics to campus and community events, you will assist in delivering memorable experiences for every guest who enters our venues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with all aspects of the Events department at CLA in conjunction with the Event Manager(s) and Staffing and Security Manager.
  • Coordinate front and back of the house staffing for events, interacting with contracted staffing providers and local first responder organizations.
  • Oversee general adherence to best practices for event and no‑event security for the arena and its clients.
  • Assist in coordinating training and staffing assignments for event staff, building security, and interacting with local public safety officials to ensure events run safely and smoothly.
Job Duties
  • Work with Event Managers to analyze event details and implement effective staffing and training plans for front and back of the house staff.
  • Create work schedules for event, first responder, and security staff.
  • Review emergency planning procedures with all events staff for each event.
  • Assist in creating and distributing detailed staff information sheets as needed for events.
  • Coordinate with Business Operations to ensure staff and other applicable parties are paid.
  • Assist in overseeing Events Department interns by developing work schedules.
  • Complete required event evaluation paperwork and delegate event responsibilities as needed.
  • May serve as the Manager on Duty for smaller, non‑commercial events.
  • Assist with overseeing staffing and security for the ticket gates at Williams‑Brice Stadium during USC home football games.
  • Manage events assigned by Director of Event Services from assignment through advancement, reporting, event day and settlement process.
  • Assist in staffing plans for non‑USC athletic events at Williams‑Brice Stadium and Founders Park as assigned.
  • Assist in recruiting and training of event and security staff.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, contractors and venue users.
  • Function as liaison between users of the venue and the venue staff, investigating event‑related complaints and reporting issues to management.
  • Communicate with local officials and event staff to ensure patron security and event smooth operation.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a job‑related field.
  • No prior work experience required; can be substituted by equivalent combination of job‑related certification, training, education, and/or experience.
  • Experience in the sports and entertainment field is preferred.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Microsoft Office application knowledge.
