Escrow Tax & Insurance Specialist – Columbia, SC (Hybrid)
The Escrow Tax & Insurance Specialist is responsible for ensuring accurate escrow account setup, timely tax and insurance disbursements, and adherence to regulatory and internal compliance standards. This role supports data integrity, partner communication, and efficient operational processes.
What You’ll Do:- Establish, review, and maintain escrow accounts and loan data to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Process changes to escrow or loan information based on validated documentation.
- Monitor data integrity, investigate discrepancies, and ensure timely resolution.
- Respond to inquiries from association partners with clear, accurate, and timely information.
- Support training and knowledge‑sharing efforts for partners and internal teams.
- Process tax and insurance payments accurately and within required deadlines.
- Identify payment delays and take corrective action to prevent penalties or policy cancellations.
- Coordinate lender-placed insurance when necessary.
- Contribute to projects, continuous learning, and adherence to security and risk‑management policies.
- Maintain strong compliance by safeguarding sensitive information and adhering to all security and risk‑reporting procedures.
- Associate degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field preferred.
- 1–3 years of experience in mortgage servicing, escrow processing, loan operations, or related financial operations required.
- Experience handling tax and insurance disbursements, account updates, and issue resolution in deadline‑driven environments.
- Working knowledge of escrow account setup and maintenance, including tax/insurance line items, shortages, and overages.
- Understanding of disbursement timelines, penalties, and lapse prevention with proactive problem‑solving skills.
- Awareness of regulatory and policy requirements related to escrow processing and recordkeeping.
- Strong accuracy in data entry, validation, reconciliation, and research of discrepancies.
