Location: Columbia
Overview
This position will provide coverage for short‑term, surge, and on‑demand financial counseling services to military service members and their families at military installations, including post‑deployment events and coverage of absent counselors.
Responsibilities- Provide full breadth of personal financial counseling services, including one‑on‑one counseling, briefings, presentations, and referrals.
- Assist service members in establishing spending plans for extended absences.
- Develop and make available informational financial materials.
- Coordinate, publicize, and deliver personal financial management classes and workshops on topics across the military lifecycle (e.g., arrival, pre‑ and post‑deployment, career events).
- Respond to requests for age‑appropriate classes or seminars.
- Utilize virtual counseling or electronic modes of communication such as web‑based, secure online chat, video‑based communications, or secure video teleconference when authorized by the OSD FINRED Program office.
- Manage duty‑to‑warn situations in accordance with Department of Defense protocol.
- Communicate with leadership and participate in regular individual and group supervision, sharing trend and issue information.
- Participate in regular in‑services, training, quality improvement committees, and other contract activities as assigned.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree required; an associate degree with 4 years of experience or a high school diploma with 6 years of experience may be considered.
- Minimum 3 years of financial counseling experience.
- U.S. citizen; must speak fluent English. Bilingual in English and Spanish may be required by contract.
- Must be able to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation.
- Must pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process.
- Must hold one of the following certifications:
Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).
Salary range: $58,440 – $93,500. Position may be eligible for short‑term incentives and a comprehensive benefits package.
