Regional Director – Offender Supervision and Enforcement Services
Job ResponsibilitiesUnder the limited supervision of the Associate Deputy Director for Offender Supervision and Enforcement Services, the incumbent will serve as Regional Director. Responsibilities include the development of long‑ and short‑term planning to accomplish departmental and divisional mission and goals; directing and managing all aspects of regional operations; providing input to the department’s budget development process and managing fiscal resources within the region;
developing and implementing Offender Supervision and Enforcement Services policies and procedures; developing and implementing special county and regional programs for offenders under the department’s supervision; participating in the design and implementation of evaluation plans; managing human resources within the region; maintaining a professional communication network inside and outside the department; participating in the development of staff training programs and curriculum;
and maintaining professional competence.
A bachelor's degree with at least 15 semester hours in social or behavioral science courses and experience supervising the activities of probation and parole staff. An associate’s degree and two (2) years of military or certified law enforcement experience (to include Class 1 or Offender Supervision Specialist experience) may be substituted; or a high school diploma and four (4) years of military or certified law enforcement experience (to include Class 1 or Offender Supervision Specialist experience) may be substituted.
NecessarySpecial Requirements
Certification by the Law Enforcement Training Council in accordance with 23-23-40 of the Code of Laws of South Carolina 1976. Must be currently Class 1 (C‑1) certified law enforcement officer from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy.
Preferred QualificationsMaster’s Degree involving special training in the field of social science and five (5) years of experience in probation/parole work; or Bachelor’s Degree involving special training in the field of social science and six (6) years in probation/parole work. Four (4) years of supervisory experience in law enforcement is required.
