DescriptionThe Chester County Planning Commission seeks a Community Planner to assist in advancing sound and innovative planning efforts throughout Chester County. Position responsibilities include writing comprehensive plans, zoning ordinances, subdivision and land development ordinances, and special planning studies for townships, boroughs, and other clients in an effort to improve quality-of-life and implement the county’s long-range plan, Landscapes
3.The position also monitors grant programs, attends evening meetings, and is in frequent collaboration with municipal officials, community stakeholders, local planning partners, and internal project teams.
The Chester County Planning Commission is committed to engaging with communities and our planning partners as we continue to balance preservation and growth in the county. The Planning Commission operates in a hybrid work environment.

Starting Salary: $63,564
RequirementsThe Community Planner III must be well-organized, detail oriented, and self-directed. Knowledge and understanding of the PA Municipalities Planning Code, local government in Pennsylvania, comprehensive plans, zoning ordinances, and subdivision and land development regulations are important skills for this position. Applicants must be able to multi-task and prioritize projects. The successful candidate should be a good communicator, possessing strong verbal, written, public speaking, and computer skills, including Microsoft Office and a working knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS products.
Ideal candidates will demonstrate experience in project management, analyzing data, and creating presentations.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in planning or a related field and a minimum of three to four years of job-related experience. Master’s degree preferred. AICP accreditation is a plus.
