Responsibilities
- Inspects hazardous trees on the right-of-way and follows departmental policy in the removal.
- Assists with determining if SCDOT will complete the work or if the work is beyond the unit's capability.
- Investigates illegal encroachment onto the right-of-way and follows department policy on the removal.
- Encroachment inspections include signs, mailboxes, and abandoned vehicles.
- Processes encroachment permit work; processes road inventories and damage claims.
- Verifies field quantities for pay estimates.
- Reviews, inspects, and recommends for approval residential encroachment permits.
- Conducts field inspections for moderate level contracts such as roadway mowing, vegetation, and/or tree removal.
