Overview
The primary role of the Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) is to effectively and efficiently manage the daily operations of the pharmacy and the provision of professional services, including general operations of the pharmacy and overseeing all medication storage, preparation, and distribution in the pharmacy, and for the management and supervising the pharmacy staff. The PIC ensures that the pharmacy provides optimal services, meets all legal, accreditation, and certification requirements, and complies with all applicable laws, policies, procedures, codes, and standards of practice.
The PIC accepts responsibility, legally and professionally, for the operation of the pharmacy licensed under their supervision, in conformance with all laws and regulations pertinent to the practice of pharmacy and distribution of drugs. The PIC jointly bears responsibility with the permit holder for compliance with these laws and regulations, responsible for the utilization of technology and management of workflow within the pharmacy department.
Manage daily pharmacy operations and provide professional services. Oversee medication storage, preparation, and distribution. Supervise pharmacy staff. Ensure compliance with legal, accreditation, certification requirements, policies, procedures, codes, and standards of practice. Maintain responsibility for the operation of the pharmacy under supervision and ensure conformance with laws and regulations related to pharmacy practice and drug distribution. Collaborate with the permit holder on compliance and manage technology use and workflow within the pharmacy department.
EducationAnd Experience
- Must be a licensed Pharmacist in the state of South Carolina
- A Master of Science in Pharmacy or Pharm
D degree is required - Must have five (5) years of retail pharmacy experience and a minimum of two (2) years of pharmacy management experience
- BLS certification is required
The pharmacy hours are Monday – Friday, 8:30 – 6:00. This position is to work four 10-hour days per week.
