Location: Coastal Carolina Medical Center, 1000 Medical Center Dr, Hardeeville, SC 29927

Schedule: 3x12 or 4x10 schedule, 6:30 am–7:00 pm, Call and weekend rotation

Status: Full Time

Coastal Carolina Medical Center is the first hospital in South Carolina to achieve Center of Excellence in Robotic Surgery. We use the da Vinci Surgical System for minimally invasive procedures and have been recognized by the American Heart Association with a Gold Plus Stroke award for stroke care.

The Certified Surgical Technologist works under the supervision of a surgeon and registered nurse to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures. This includes ensuring that the operating room environment is safe, equipment functions properly, and procedures are performed under conditions that maximize patient safety. Certified surgical technologists must possess expertise in sterile and aseptic techniques and combine knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and applicable technologies to assist physicians.

• Variety of surgical procedures and endoscopy
• High volume
• Standard of care of patients while following OSHA guidelines

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Successful completion of an accredited educational program for surgical technologists
• Must meet one of the following pathways:
  • Hold and maintain the Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential through the NBSTSA
  • Completed surgical technology training through the U.S. Armed Forces or U.S. Public Health Service
  • Practiced as a surgical technologist in South Carolina prior to January 1, 2008
  • Serving as a surgical technologist in the federal government
• Current BLS certification required
• NBSTSA certification required
• Previous hospital experience preferred
