The Department of Drug Discovery and Biomedical Sciences (DDBS) at the College of Pharmacy, University of South Carolina (USC), is seeking to hire a Research Technician to conduct research in Dr. Jun Zhu’s laboratory on ongoing NIH-funded research projects to study the underlying mechanisms of HIV-1 infection associated neurocognitive disorders.

• Perform research under the supervision of the Principal Investigator. Conduct cell culture and pharmacological assays to characterize the in vitro pharmacological profile of human vesicular monoamine transporter (VMAT2) and its mutants, and test the compounds to identify optimized probe molecules using cell-based expressing human VMAT

• Assist with other ongoing experiments; maintain instruments; lab safety; lab cleaning/organizing.

• Bachelor’s degree in biomedical science or related field. Prior experience working in a research laboratory is preferred.
